My American Idols

It’s no secret that I am a total reality tv junkie. I think American Idol was my first reality tv obsession, but who really knows. I’ve had a wonderful time watching this season. I was so upset when my dvr did not record for some odd reason last week’s group performances show. UGH! So upset! But I’m really looking forward to this season’s contestants.

I could’ve sworn that they said that they’ll be doing this year’s top 12 like Season 1. I don’t know how I feel about that just yet. I kinda liked the guys versus the girls, for the sake of keeping things even–though I’m sure somehow the top 12 will still end up 6 guys and 6 girls. Well, if I’m not mistaken, they’ll be doing 3 groups of 12, the top 3 in each group will go on, and then there will be 3 wild card spots. They showed who the first group would be, and I think more than 3 of my favorites are in that group, so I’m worried! I know, I sound like a complete idiot/fanatic.

So I thought I’d take a stab at who I would like to see in the top 12 (I wish I could include pics, but the AI website won’t let me!):

So, I don’t actually like Jackie Tohn or Scott Macintyre that much, but I think that the judges like them. I pretty much chose those folks who have been in the AI spotlight. I feel sorry for those contestants that made it this far and haven’t had more than a few seconds of fame. And if that freakin Tatiana makes it to the top 12, I’m literally going to stop watching. I can’t believe that she made it above some of the other girls, like the one girl who they had sing, but Jesse Langseth beat her out. Like really?!? And I can’t believe that they took “Norman” over Jamar. Granted that “Norman” has a decent voice, he’s doing comedy out there. How many Weird Al’s have there been in the music industry!?! UGH!

I think Adam Lambert is too Broadway. He doesn’t have a commercial sound. I really like Alex Wagner-Trugman’s voice, but his look is not going to garner support in my opinion. I like Alexis Grace too, but I think the other girls are a lot stronger. It’s funny because almost all of the girls I chose are brunettes. I dunno, I just thought they sang better. I have a sneaking suspicion that Megan Corkrey may end up getting into the top because they need to throw more blondes into the mix.

My favorite guy is Anoop Desai. He totally doesn’t look like he’d have a good voice, but he is SOOOOO good. He constantly surprises me. And gotta give love to Danny Gokey! Wisconsin!! Hahahaha. He really reminds me of Robert Downey, Jr. His voice, his look, his story, he’s the entire package. As for the girls, I really like Jasmine Murray and Lil Rounds. They great outstanding voices, and they’re also really pretty. What a combo!

I’m really surprise at how young this year’s finalists are. There are so many 16 years olds that made it this year. This year’s crop is definitely younger than all previous seasons. I can’t wait to watch!

Oh, and after my missed episode last week, I’ve discovered that I can’t watch American Idol episodes on the website or on fox. So if anyone knows where I could find episodes, I’d really appreciate it! I still want to watch the one I missed!
