So it’s no secret that ever since I got married it’s like all of a sudden some switch was flipped in my brain and all of a sudden I really wanted a baby. Luckily it’s under control right now. I take it day by day, but I think that 2011 is a good year to have a baby. Ironically, I know a slew of couples who are expecting babies, mostly in April and May. I have two aunts due in the next couples of months as well. Anyway, it seems like the past week or two, everyone is popping out babies early! Amazing! My dear friend Mia just became a new aunt a week ago to her new neice, Caitlyn. It was so weird. We were talking on the phone about how her sister in law’s due date was in two weeks, then bam, she gave birth! So excited!
My friends Thao and Trang were married two weeks after John and I, and they delivered their first baby, Bella, this past week. We all went to high school together. It’s still surprises me when friends my age have babies. Granted I am by no means a youngin anymore, but I still feel young. I still remember when Thao and I were just goof offs playing badminton. And now we’re married, and they have a baby. Congrats to Thao and Trang!

One of my law school friends became a new dad this past Monday! Him and his wife remind me and John because they were high school sweethearts and he’s Vietnamese and she’s Filipino. I’m always on the lookout for half Filipino, half Vietnamese babies, kids and even adults! Always curious what they’re going to look like. Anyway, his wife gave birth to a son, Mateo. I was so shocked to know that they named him Mateo because John and I had always been saving “Jeramy Mateo” as the name of our son. I know, random. But now there’s a half Filipino, half Viet Mateo in the world. What are the odds! Anyway, Congrats to Truman and Naomi!

Babies, babies, babies! I’m just waiting for the phone call letting me know that I have new cousins. I won’t be coming back to the Bay until the end of May, and by then I will definitely have two new cousins, one boy and one girl. And OH MY GOSH, my Aunt–my Uncle’s wife–wants to name her soon to be daughter and name her “Destiny.” Yea, silly Filipinos. Anyway, not to knock anyone who may actually have that name, but my first reaction was “THAT’S A STRIPPER’S NAME! WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO GIVE YOUR DAUGHTER A STRIPPER’S NAME!!!” And yes, I actually said this to my aunt. Her response was that it was her friend’s name. Foot, meet mouth. Anyway, by that point I had already told my aunt that her friend has a stripper’s name so I could do no worse, so I said “Is your friend a stripper?” I thought it was funny! She didn’t. Anyway, apparently Destiny is her #1 name for her daughter, with Caitlyn as a possible second. Weird, Caitlyn a hot name right now I guess. Anyway, I said “GO WITH CAITLYN!!!” I don’t think they’ll listen. So I may have a cousin named Destiny in May. I’m planning on nicknaming her “Tiny” or “Tin-tin.” My cousin Desiree already has “Des” as her nickname. With as big of a family as I got, it gets hard finding normal names without going crazy. Anyway, it’s babies galore…but for me, not just yet.
Oh, and before I forget, a big CONGRATULATIONS to Adrienne and Jose, who just tied the knot this past Sunday! WELCOME TO MARRIED LIFE!
…this blog is sounding more like “life changes” than anything else, huh?
