Our Charmeng Wedding: Let’s Get it Started

I have been holding onto our professional pictures for about 6 weeks now, and I’ve been wanting to blog about our wedding since I pretty much post those darn things everywhere. So here it is. Segment one of our wedding!

Our wedding day began with the girls and I getting ready at our suite in the Fairmont Hotel. I think my body had been getting really anxious and excited about the wedding because the weeks leading up to the wedding, I found myself waking up at 7am and fully rested. The wedding day was no different. The hair and make-up artists were scheduled to arrive at 7am, so we set the alarm for 6:30am, and like clockwork, I woke up at 6am. I was soooooo ready.

Maria Chang from Professional Make-up Artistry was our vendor for hair and make-up. Maria brought her assistant as well as two other hair and make-up artists. I felt so pampered!

Maria working her magic on me.

While planning my wedding, there were a lot of “Soon to Be Mrs.” sweatsuits, but I knew that if I bought it, I’d pretty much wear it just once. I went back and forth with what I should wear. But at the end of the day, I stuck with something already in my closet, and it ended up matching my ao dai. My pink and white heart pajamas.

This is my mom getting her hair done. SHE was one of my freak-outs of the day. I told her that her hair and make-up appointment was at 10am, and so she needed to be there by 9:30. Well, 9:30am rolled around and she was still nowhere to be found. I called her, and she told me that she thought her appointment was for 3pm. Now really, there is no way that made any sense because the tea ceremony was scheduled for 12:30, so how could she get hair and make-up done afterwards? Yeah. But it worked out, she was able to get her hair and make-up done, and I was happy.

This is me happy that my mom is done with hair and make-up.

This is the only piece of pink clothing I have ever worn outside the house. I literally owned nothing pink (minus the aforementioned pjs), and yet on my wedding day, I wore an entirely pink ao dai. The things I would do to make John (read: his mom) happy.

Despite it being pink, it is absolutely gorgeous.

My ao dai shoos…the Choos.

Since this was my first time wearing an ao dai, I needed some extra help. It certainly has lots of buttons and clasps. Aren’t we cute and colorful?

Bending down wasn’t an option. I was too afraid of ripping a big hole in my ao dai. My best friend, LeAnne, is the best!

We were dressed and ready. Here we are walking down the hall. I’m missing 2 of my BMs and my Jr. BM because they’re on John’s family side, so they had to head out earlier to be with John’s family.

Everyone kept telling me that I didn’t need my bouquet for the tea ceremony, but I really wanted my flowers, so I took them anyway. And a word to the wise, white roses wilt VERY quickly. I think by the time I walked down the aisle of the church, my white roses weren’t so white.

At this point I was at my house, waiting to be escorted down the stairs by my dad. I smile because I’m anxious.

Finishing touches! Next up, time to walk down the stairs…
