Reminiscing about xanga

My friend Shirlene’s blog periodically showcases a post that she had written a few years before on her back. Yesterday that got me thinking about my old xanga blog. I didn’t even remember how much or how little I wrote in it until I decided to log into my account. I found out that my first xanga entry was in 2002. I was still in college then. I started skimming through the entries, and it really seemed like a diary. Not because it held secrets or anything, but because I wrote it as if no was going to read it, and there were rarely any pictures. Just long, long essays. It was nice to relive some of the highlights of my life. I think most of what I wrote had come from law school, so it really wasn’t that long ago. In fact, the most recent entry was the week before I was engaged. Then once I was engaged, I wrote on the blog of my wedding website and stopped writing in my xanga altogether.

I came across a post that I had written that I wrote on Jan. 2, 2004. It makes me think that despite being 4 years older, being married, and being a licensed attorney–I seriously am still the same. I’m still in the same situation, just a little different. I still think the same way, I still feel the same way. It was a reflection post for 2003:

it’s a new year and it didn’t really hit me until I read Coriemae’s xanga. I did do a lot in 2003. I made a lot of great friends and great memories. Berkeley had practically been my whole life for the past 4 years and after May, I started a life without it. Being a senior was great! Senior Show, Senior Trip, Senior Week, Senior Challenges, Senior Gatherings, Semi, PCN, PS Graduation, PilGrad, GradBash. Those were some great CAL times. I had sooooo much fun. It’s crazy how quickly we forget. I can’t forget my Spring Break in Las Vegas with John, Newton and Kevin. Oh the celebrities we saw! Oh man…and Mae’s entry about Hawaii!! I had soooooo much fun in Hawaii. And I’m blessed that I was able to spend a week with such awesome ladies in such a beautiful place!! Then my Carnival Caribbean Cruise with my family!! Getting to go to the Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and the Bahamas totally rocked!!! I had the best vacations this year!

This was also the year that I had to move out of Albany, say goodbye to my roommate Nancy Tariga, and move back to “Sunny San Jose”. It’s been 7 months of living back home….it’s hard being back home, but its nice. I also can’t forget taking the LSAT this year!! Oh man….studying for the LSAT was ultimately killer….how did I do??….ehhh…but afterwards, it felt soooo good to be done with it. I also applied to law school in 2003. Results will be posted in 2004 entries….hee hee.

And now, after such a great year…its over and done. And I start another year, different than any previous years. I have a degree but no job. I’m supposed to be in the “real world” but if i’m not going to school and don’t have a job, am i still a part of this reality? i still feel like i’m in some sort of pergatory. between graduation and the real world. this is a year of decisions. to go, not to go. to go far, to stay close. to stay comfortable, to live on the edge. many questions, few answers…

i wish to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone for making my 2003 such a memorable year. just being surrounded by all of you throughout this year has made every day unforgettable. i hope that this coming year will be even half as memorable as 2003. let’s make some great memories in 2004. CHEERS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
